





For over 250 years Margate in Kent had been a popular seaside resort, but with dwindling tourist revenues and in desperate need of redevelopment Margate has fallen on harder times. Winter exacerbates these problems, and as with many seaside resorts it transforms into a forlorn and melancholy place. In an attempt to both reinvent the town's image and revive its flagging fortunes, ambitious plans are afoot to build the Turner Contemporary Art Centre in the harbour.
